By air:
Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is the important traffic hub connecting Northwest China with other region of the country. From the airport, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Lanzhou, Xining and Yinchuan in central and west China can be reached in one hour. 70 percent of the nation's territory can be covered from Xian by two hours' flight. Capital cities and important tourist cities can be arrived in 3 hours.
At present, Xian Airport has established business with 20 domestic and international airlines, opening 129 flights to 74 destinations with the capacity to ensure the annual passenger throughput of 10 million and handle 32 flights per hour at peak hours. China Eastern Ailrines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines set up their northwest headquarters in Xian Airport. It now has direct international flights to Singapore, Nagoya and Seoul, connecting flight to Paris, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Delhi, Bangkok, Tokyo, Nagoya and Singapore via Shanghai (Pudong). For domestic flights, it is a good transfer station to Jiayuguan, Urumqi and Lhasa.
By train
There are two railway stations in Xi'an. One is the Xi'an Railway Station, which undertakes the most passenger transportation task. It is located in 151 Huangcheng Bei Lu, Xincheng District, Xi'an city.
The other one is Xi'an North Railway Station, which has been in sevice in Jan, 2011. It is said to be one of the biggest passenger rail transport stations in Asia after its completion. On the opening day, 14 pairs of Xian-Zhengzhou high-speed trains and D319 (Beijing West - Chongqing) are firstly moved to the new station from Xian Railway Station. Xian-Baoji high-speed trains maintain the same in Xian Railway Station. In the near future, high-speed bullet trains can depart from this new station to Lanzhou, Chengdu, Taiyuan, Beijing and Shanghai.
By bus:
Just about every bus in Xi'an passes through traffic circle around the Bell Tower. Maps on the side of every bus show the route and list destinations. If your Chinese is shaky, you need an English-speaking guide.
By car:
Because so many of the sights lie outside the city proper, hiring a taxi or a car and driver gives you the freedom to depart when you like instead of waiting for the rest of the tour.Prices start at about ¥800 per day, but vary widely based on the type of vehicle and whether you need an English-speaking guide. Every major hotel can arrange car services.
