This traditional, family-run affair serves some of the best local Islamic specialties in lamb and beef. The decor isn't special, but the food is popular with Xian's large Muslim community.Aspareribs of sheep, are a bit pricey, but most dishes are inexpensive. Ask for an English menu.
Xi'an Fanzhuang:
This restaurant specializes in local foods with a Muslim flavor as will as "small eats" street food spruced up for the visitor. Suited business executives and T-shirt-clad college students alike head to the bustling first-floor dining room for the all-you-can-eat buffet. An adjucent entrance leads to a second-floor restaurant,where more exotic and expengsive dishes-algae flavored with orchid.
De Fa Chang Restaurant:
If you think dumplings are just occasional snack food, think again. De Fa Chang, one of Xian's most famous restaurants, is known for its dumpling banquet.Don't miss the panfried guoqie, stuffed with pork and chives. For the dumpling banquet,head upstairs and choose between the preset menus. Considerably cheaper carte dishes can be found downstairs;just grab a plate as a cartpasses by your table and be ready to pay on the spot. With red lanterns hanging outside, this four-story behemoth attracts large groups of locals, who sometimes exit singing.
