Elephant trunk hill(Elephant hill) is too famous to be missed. It is located on the western bank of Li River. The name of Elephant trunk hill comes from its shape--- it just looks like a huge elephant drinking water from the river with its trunk. Elephant trunk hill is 55 meters above the surface of the water, 100 meters long and 108 meters wide. The mountain area is the seabed sediment of 3.6 billion years history, composed of pure limestone. The Elephant Hill has several features: Water Moon Cave (Shuiyue dong), Elephant's Eye Cave, and Pagoda for Puxian and Yunfeng Temple.

Shui Yue Cave (Water Moon Cave) is in Elephant trunk hill park.Shui Yue Cave (Water Moon Cave)is between the trunk and the legs, which is a semi- round cave penetrated by water. The inverted reflection of the cave in water plus the part above forms a full moon. This phenomenon is unique and many laudatory inscriptions were found on the wall inside the cave. there are over seventy inscriptions were engraved by famous litterateur of Tang and Song dynasty (AD618 – AD1279 ) around this cave, Visitors can take bamboo boat though the cave to the river.
Elephant Eye Cave in The Elephant Hill park
Elephant Eye Cave: Climbing the snaking stone path up the hill, visitors will see another cave going through the hill: Elephant Eye Cave. With a height of around two meters, the cave is 5 to 10 meters in width and about 52 meters in length. It's so called as the cave is located right where the eye of the elephant-shaped hill should be. Standing at the cave affords a good view of the surroundings.

Pagoda for Puxian: On the top of the hill is a two storey pagoda built in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) surrounded by green trees. The pagoda looks like a precious vase on the back of an elephant seen from distance and many beautiful legends about the pagoda with good wishes are said among people.
Yunfeng Temple at the southwest foot of The Elephant Hill
In fact, the Elephant Trunk Hill has a unique flavor in sunrise and sunset. Additionally, there is the Yunfeng Temple at the southwest foot of this hill. Legend shows this temple was build in Tang Dynasty and it was one of the four famous temples in Guilin. During the period of Heavenly Kingdom of Peace (1850 ~ 1864A.D.), and the period of the Revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-Sen in 1911, this temple plays the important role as gathering place for all the comrades. Therefore, there are many historical cultural relics in the temple. We suggest that after you visit the unique landscapes of the Elephant Trunk Hill stop by and see the Yunfeng Temple.

As the symbol of Guilin, Elephant Trunk Hill is the main scenic spot of the Elephant Trunk Hill Park, which also includes The Aiqing Dao(Love Island) and so on.
